It becomes futile, to the amount of leading and guidance you can get from the Holy Spirit, for the Spirit of God leads you by the measure of the word in you.
And He dictates His unction and function for God by the measure of the revealed word to you as you did read. It does not just influence your capabilities, but the extent of the prophetic word, the rhema or the word of knowledge that can flow through you. So it is very important to learn more and more about God as it empowers your thought process and actions. This received, learned and secure word in you; that you exercise by your actions is called the engrafted word.
James 1:21 KJV Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
