Résumé

Written by leading scientists in the field and intended for a broader readership, this is an ideal starting point for an overview of current research and developments. As such, the book covers a broad spectrum of laboratory astrophysics and chemistry, describing recent advances in experiments, as well as theoretical work, including fundamental physics and modeling chemical networks. For researchers as well as students and newcomers to the field.
From the contents : The Astrophysical Background ; Molecular Spectroscopy ; Gas Phase Chemistry ; Molecular Photodissociation ; Surface Science ; Dust and Nanoparticle Spectroscopy ; Formation of Nanoparticles and Solids.

À propos des auteurs

Stephan Schlemmer is professor for experimental physics at the I. Physikalisches Institut of Cologne University. His main research interest is molecular physics, combining spectroscopy and molecular collision dynamics at conditions relevant in space. Thomas Giesen is a professor at the University of Kassel. His main research activities comprise reactive carbon containing molecules and radicals, produced in laser ablation and electrical discharge sources.
Prof. Giesen is author and co-author of more than 100 publications in refereed journals. His publication on carbon chain molecules has been awarded the Sir Harold Thomson Memorial award 2003. Harald Mutschke is head of the astrophysical laboratory of the Astrophysical Institute and University Observatory at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena. His main fields of interest are spectroscopy of solids and optics of small particles with application to cosmic dust.
Cornelia Jäger is the head of the laboratory astrophysics group of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Heidelberg which is located at the Institute of Solid State Physics of the University of Jena. Her research focuses on gas-phase condensation, formation pathways, and radiation-induced processing of cosmic dust and astrophysically relevant molecules such as PAHs and their corresponding spectral properties.
