Lenore Phipps is nearing the end of her quest. With eight of the Aztec idols in her possession, she has to add only one more-the one with the diamond eyes. Her pursuit has consumed the past three years of her life, but now that it's almost completed, Lenore still feels empty. Arriving on the small Caribbean island of Santa Rosita to meet the mysterious John Simpson, Lenore comes face to face with voodoo, murder, and a ghost from her past.
It seems Simpson has his own demons to hide, not to mention being the prime suspect in a local murder. Finally making her way back to Berkeley, Lenore is pursued by an island smuggler and discovers the tiny Aztec gods are still capable of wreaking havoc with her life. Has her quest been worth all she's been forced to give up...and perhaps even her life?
