Traître ou non ?
Jérusalem, dans les années 1950, un étudiant en pleine période de remise en question décide de devenir homme de compagnie pour un vieillard érudit. A travers les conversations entre les deux hommes nous allons découvrir un personnage, M Abravanel, qui s'était opposé dans les années 40 à la création unilatérale d'un état juif au détriment du peuple palestinien. Ce dernier sera mis au ban de la société israélienne et sera traité de traitre ... L'auteur fait un parallèle avec le mémoire consacré à Judas en cours de rédaction par l'étudiant ...
On peut percevoir, à travers ce roman, les interrogations d'Amos Oz qui lui-même a parfois été traité de traître ...
