Numerous studies have been devoted to the influence of plastic strains on the electrochemical behaviour of stainless steels. By contrast, only a few workers have attempted to determine the role of elastic and residual strains on localized corrosion. The aim of this volume is to present the novel experimental methods used at the micro scale in mechanics and chemistry and to introduce the theoretical approach based on thermodynamics.
It should be of interest to electro-chemists, physicists, metallurgists, materials scientists and engineers who investigate and use metallic materials in corrosive environments.
