piSoundscape Ecology/i represents a new branch of ecologyand it isthe result of the integration of different disciplines like Landscape ecology,Bioacoustics, Acoustic ecology, Biosemiotics, etc. The soundscape that is the object of this discipline, is defined asthe acoustic context resulting from natural andhumanoriginated sounds and it is considered a relevantenvironmental proxy for animal and human life./ppWithiSoundscape Ecology/iAlmo Farinameans to offer a newcultural toolto investigatea partially explored component of the environmental complexity. For thishe intends to set the principlesof this new discipline, to delineate the epistemic domain in which to develop newideasand theories and to describe the necessary integrationwith all the other ecological/environmentaldisciplines./ppThe book is organized in ten chapters.

Chapter five is devotedto the human dimension of soundscape. Chapters six to eightregard the major sonic patterns likenoise, choruses and vibrations.
