Résumé

Savoy Country... Two French departments, one province. A history, mountains and beauty... Savoie and Haute-Savoie arc naturally linked together in this guide. Enchanting routes, on country roads of sheer pleasure, in quest of landscapes and men, valleys, lakes, old cities, cathedrals, castles or simple mountain chalets. Then on foot, following nature's paths, to find rocks, winding mountain streams, permanent snows, wild flowers, chamois and eagles... From the banks of Lake Léman to the valleys of Chablis, to the Aravis and the glaciers of Mont Blanc; from the historic heart of Annecy and Chambéry to the chapels of isolated villages. From the Savoyard foothills and its vineyards which have a feel of the Rhône, as far as the Chartreuse and the Combe de Savoie, to the Bauges, the Beaufortain, the Tarentaise and the Maurienne. The perfume of cheeses and wormwood. Wonderful glaciers. The enchantment of wild lilies and edelweiss. A real bowl of happiness to be savoured in any season.
