Based permanently in Prague, Mark has lived and worked in Central Europe for more than 20 years, first as a journalist for The Economist Group and then for Bloomberg News and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. He's a frequent visitor to Romania and a huge fan of the Danube Delta, Timisoara, Transylvania, and yes, even Bucharest, among other places. In addition to this book, Mark is coauthor of the Lonely Planet guides to Prague, Slovenia and Poland.
Chris Deliso is an American travel writer who writes widely about the Balkans and Mediterranean Europe. In addition to Bulgaria and Romania, he has contributed to Lonely Planet's guides to Greece, Crete, Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and Turkey. He has an MPhil with Distinction in Byzantine Studies from Oxford University. Richard Waters is an award-winning travel journalist and works for the Sunday Times, National Geographic Traveller, the Independent and Wanderlust.
He first fell for the charms of Transylvania as an ardent horror buff. Curiosity took the cat to Bran Castle in the early '00s and he's been a sucker for the country's forests and folklore ever since, returning regularly. He lives with his fiancée and two children, Finn and Aggie, in the Cotswolds.
