Résumé

The numerical simulation of radiative heat transfer in participating media (gaseous, condensed or dispersed) is a crucial need in a wide variety of problems found in space and aeronautics, glass and steel industry, fire safety, solar energy, and combustion systems, among others. As a follow up of Eurotherm 73 (Mons, Belgium, 2003), the Eurotherm Seminar 78 was devoted to computational aspect of thermal radiation and aimed at presenting the state of the art and the modern trends in this research area.
The present volume contains the full-length papers of the communications presented during this Seminar. Forty papers have been selected after a strict review process performed hy the members of the Scientific Committee and by some other eminent experts. They are regrouped into six main categories : RTE solutions methods - New improvements (5 papers). Monte Carlo simulations (5 papers). Transient radiation and microscale effects (6 papers).
Gas radiation and Turbulence Radiation Interaction (8 papers) Inverse methods and radiative properties characterization (7 papers). High temperature process and combustion (9 papers).
