Elizabeth Guthrie comes to America from Ireland in 1771 with her parents, an older brother, and younger siblings. Through the Seneca Indians' and British Loyalists' raid and burning of Hanna's Town, Pennsylvania, in 1782, the capture of Elizabeth, her husband, and two children, Elizabeth shows her resilience to fight for her life and freedom. For two years, Elizabeth and her daughter fight through Indian captivity that takes her to Canada, a slave auction, and an attempt by the Indians to burn her at the stake, and so much more.
Through the voices of Elizabeth and other members of her family, the story of this infamous day and her journey comes to life. Woman on Fire wraps a fictional story around historical events to give a page-turning experience.

Biographie de Gail A. Curtis

Gail Curtis, is a new author. When she first learned about her five times great aunt, she was consumed by what her (Elizabeth's) life must have been like. Gail lost many nights of sleep thinking about Elizabeth and the horrific details of her life. Once she put the last period in place, Gail knew she could sleep in peace, as someone finally told Elizabeth's story for her.    Gail has a Certificate in Creative Writing from the New York Institute of Art & Design.
She works full time as a secretary. She lives in Nebraska with her husband, has three grown children, and one granddaughter.
