A dead body is found hanging under Cleethorpes Pier early in the morning. Humberside Police's newest detective, DS Brierton is sent to the scene to assist in preserving it until the Crime Scene Manager arrives and kick-starts the investigation into what has happened. As the crime scene is processed, it becomes apparent that it is a murder case. DCI Garner, a long-serving police detective is assigned as the senior investigating officer and joins DS Brierton at the scene.
As the new team of detectives investigation moves forward, the evidence they uncover leads the team to look closely at two suspects. Both these suspects have clear motives and plenty of opportunity to carry out the murder.
