Résumé

They moved quickly, fear sharpening their senses. Each rustle of the leaves, each crack of a twig, felt like a prelude to something far worse. They were no longer just hikers in the woods. They were prey, hunted by something that shouldn't exist. But as they trudged through the uneven terrain, Philip began to feel it-a strange sensation creeping up his spine, like he was being watched from every angle, not just by Liza but by the forest itself.
Shadows shifted unnaturally, and the wind carried faint whispers that prickled his skin."Do you feel that?" he whispered to Felicity, his eyes darting around the trees. Felicity nodded, her lips trembling. "It's like. we're not alone."They weren't. Liza wasn't the only thing out there."What. what is that?" Emanuel whispered, his voice barely audible."Shhh, " Rehba hissed. "They are called souls, or symbiotic angels."The creature's tendrils found Jones's body, pressing into his skin, his spine.
Emanuel recoiled, a wave of nausea washing over him as the boy's skin rippled unnaturally, the tendrils burrowing deeper. Then, with a sickening pop, the bullet that had killed him was pushed from his skull, clattering to the stone floor. Blood began to pump from the wound, and Jones's back arched, his mouth opening in a silent scream. He was alive. Emanuel, unable to hold it in any longer, doubled over and vomited.
