Popov was a law student, while Jebsen was taking an economics degree. Wodehouse, and told Popov that he had joined the Abwehr, the German military intelligence service, because it saved him from soldiering. #4 In 1941, the Interallié was the most important spy network in Nazi-occupied France.
It was the creation of one spy, Roman Czerniawski, who had become the most valuable British spy in France. He loathed the Germans and Russians with equal intensity for carving up his country.
