Résumé

"Stolen at Birth" is a gripping fiction novel set in the small town of Mallville. The story revolves around the heart-breaking life story of Shirley May, a girl stolen at birth and raised by a woman named Mariana May. Although Shirley grew up without the warmth of motherly love, she remained unaware of her identity. Tragedy strikes when a maid steals one of the babies while they are asleep. In a moment of panic, Mariana realizes that her baby is missing and decides to switch the stolen child with her own, claiming it as her own.
As Shirley grows up, she endures a loveless and abusive upbringing from Mariana. It becomes evident that Mariana had stolen the child to impress a former lover who later abandoned her. Struggling to bond with Shirley, Mariana's mistreatment takes a toll on the young girl, leading to tragic consequences when Shirley attempts suicide at the age of eighteen. Shirley's life takes a turn when she meets Gregory Samuels, whom she marries.
Unbeknownst to her, Bridget, her real mother, has always kept an eye on Shirley's life from afar, still feeling a connection to her stolen daughter. As Bridget prepares for her wedding and starts involving Shirley with the preparations, Shirley gains greater exposure to Bridget's family, and the pieces of her identity start to surface.
