Résumé

After his newsroom intern jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge, 40-something reporter Daedalus Howell's reputation also took a dive. Five years later, he's still trying to clear his conscience and his byline when Jude, a lost pre-teen thief, seeks his help to get home - to a parallel universe. Or so he says. The reporter, turned amateur sleuth, soon learns that anything is possible on the strange streets of Lumaville - a sleepy Northern California college town in the grips of a startup boom.
As hard-drinking Howell grumbles about the waning relevance of his profession, he uncovers a maze of dark truths that connect the boy, his brilliant ex-flame, and a ruthless tech mogul. When Jude disappears, Howell's assignment is clear but can he make his deadline without ending up dead?An entertaining, postmodern, bizarro, cyberpunk ode to pulp and noir that brims with action and humor. Featured in the feature film Pill Head.

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Daedalus Howell

I write semi-autobiographical sci-fi noir novels that draw on my experience as a small town reporter. It wasn't always this way. I started in media as a paperboy for the local rag. After I matured into a newspaperman, I wrote for alt-weeklies and daily metros. Later, I spent a few years failing as a screenwriter in Hollywood. I eventually washed up an ink- and wine-stained critic in Sonoma and experienced all order of media mayhem whilst in Oakland.
This is before I repatriated to Lumaville to take care of some unfinished business. Either I've come full circle or I'm treading a rat wheel I've mistaken for a career. The difference? I'm bootstrapping myself into the quality lit game with a new series and hard-earned sangfroid. I still do hired gun gigs for Men's Health and the North Bay Bohemian and if you're fresh out of heroes, I might write for you too.
