When a doubting widow convinces Phil Pfeiffer to investigate the death of her wayward husband, people begin to die. Even with a death certificate, the tenacious woman won't be convinced, especially after the missing man's picture appears in a national magazine. Before Pfeiffer can unravel the mystery, the absent man dies yet again, this time in the crash of a small plane with no survivors. Pfeiffer investigates and is left fighting for his own life.
