Résumé

East of Ivan is Amazon's #1 best-selling poet and author Ivan Jenson's sweeping, raw, comic memoir of his personal and artistic journey as an iconic pop artist. It's a bumpy, thrilling ride from Los Angeles to Costa Rica, Bloomington, New Rochelle, and finally, the gritty streets of New York City, where he achieves unexpected, unprecedented success as a painter in the historic East Village art scene of the '80s. Ivan is an endearingly egocentric, East Coast Don Quixote; and this emotionally charged chronicle of his early life contains plenty of manic, misguided, yet always engaging rodomontade. East of Ivan is a laugh-out-loud hilarious and histrionic on-the-road-style howl of a confessional memoir; a rags-to-riches cautionary tale about the soul-shattering addiction of artistic ambition in downtown New York City.
Yet, it leads Ivan into unforgettable misadventures of heartache and triumph.

Ivan Jenson is a fine artist, novelist, and popular contemporary poet who lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His artwork was featured in Art in America, Art News, and Interview Magazine and has sold at auction at Christie's. Amongst Ivan's commissions are the final portrait of the late Malcolm Forbes and a painting titled "Absolut Jenson" for Absolut Vodka's national ad campaign. His Absolut paintings are in the collection of the Spritmuseum, the Museum of Spirits in Stockholm, Sweden.
Jenson's painting of the "Marlboro Man" was collected by the Philip Morris corporation. His novels, Dead Artist and Seeing Soriah, illustrate the creative, often dramatic lives of artists. He has published a poetry book, Media Child and Other Poems, and two novels, Marketing Mia and Erotic Rights. Mundane Miracles, his critically acclaimed poetry collection, hit number 1 on Amazon in American Poetry.
