Résumé

As business owners and leaders, it is important to remain informed and prepared as these issues continue to impact our local and global communities. Navigating the landscape of employment in a normal environment can be a difficult undertaking for a lot of business owners. We can all agree that the climate which we are currently in and have been in over the past several months, has been far from "normal".
Owners have had to close their doors to customers, layoff or furlough employees, and in some instances even shut down their business completely for the foreseeable future. The streets are filled with protesters, business establishments have been burned and looted, while others have been boycotted for their actions or lack thereof. A large number of businesses will simply not survive this. Numbers have shown that a great many of them have already succumbed.
The U. S. economy lost a staggering 20.5 million jobs in April of 2020, pushing the unemployment rate to 14.7% according to data released by the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics; 3.2 million more people will file for unemployment, bringing the resulting unemployment total from the coronavirus crisis to over 33 million. If you are a business owner or a leader within your organization and have gotten past this initial overview, then I am sure by now, you are looking for some solutions.
I wish I could tell you that I had a silver bullet to the many serious issues that we are facing as businesspeople; unfortunately, I do not. What I do have is some strategic insight into how you can keep your organization moving in a positive direction throughout a period of crisis. With a little insight and a lot of thoughtful, proactive application, your business will survive and be able to look back on this time as a turning point in the way you viewed organizational strategy and development.
