Virginia Tonfoni is a journalist and comic book writer, born in Tuscany in 1978. She graduated with a degree in foreign languages and literature at the University of Pisa and then she moved to Barcelona to pursue a Master's in communications studies, after which she went to work in cinema and publishing for seven years. In 2012 she decided to go back to Livorno (Tuscany), where she now lives and works for several magazines.
She has written articles for "Il Manifesto, " "Il Fatto Quotidiano" and the comics site Fumettologica. "Violeta - Corazón maldito, " published by BAO Publishing in 2017 (Europe Comics in English, 2018) is her graphic novel debut.
Alessio Spataro is a satirical illustrator and comic book artist, born in Sicily in 1977. Since 1999 he has been working for the Italian press and for comics magazines such as "Cuore, " "Schizzo, " "Frigidaire, " "Liberazione, " "L'Isola Possibile, " "Mamma!" and "Il Male." As a satire cartoonist he has released seven books, including "Non più estate" (2007, Centro Fumetto Andrea Pazienza), "Dark Country" (2008, Self Comics), and "Zona del Silenzio" (2009, Minimum Fax).
"Biliardino" (2015, BAO Publishing) was his first graphic novel as writer and artist. With BAO he has also released "Violeta - Corazón maldito" (2017; Europe Comics in English, 2018), together with writer Virginia Tonfoni. He now lives and works in Rome.
