Biographie d'Alain Fonteneau
Alain Fonteneau est directeur de recherche à l'ORSTOM (l'Institut français de recherche scientifique pour le développement en coopération) et travaille depuis 25 ans sur l'exploitation des ressources thonières.
Ses travaux ont porté principalement sur les thons de l'Atlantique dans le cadre de la Commission internationale pour la conservation des thonidés de l'Atlantique (ICCAT) dont il a dirigé le comité scientifique pendant quatre ans.
Il a aussi largement participé aux recherches menées par les autres commissions thonières de l'océan Pacifique et de l'océan Indien, zones où il a collaboré à de nombreux groupes de travail et réunions d'experts.
Dr. Alain Fonteneau is a French scientist from the ORSTOM, the French Scientific Institute for Development through Cooperation.
His research encompasses tuna stock assessment of a number of tuna stocks and fisheries world wide during the last 25 years. He has primarily been working on statistics and stock assessment of Atlantic tunas, in close cooperation with the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).
He has also been involved in the work carried out in the Indian and Pacific Oceans by various other tuna Commissions. His world wide experience of the tuna fisheries was a key factor in producing this book.
