Gerold Siedler has long experience of ocean observations and research on ocean processes and circulation, mostly in major international programmes. He is a professor (retired) at the Institut fur Meereskunde, Kiel University, Germany and a former president of the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR).
John Church has particular interests in the role of the ocean in climate variability and change. He leads the Polar Waters Project of the Antarctic Cooperative Research Centre and of the CSIRO Marine Research in Hobart, Australia. He was a co-chair of the WOCE Scientific Steering Group and is an officer of the Joint Scientific Committee of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP).
John Gould has extensive research experience in ocean circulation, particularly in the North Atlantic. He directs the International Offices that co-ordinate the WOCE and the Climate Variability and Predictability Study (CLIVAR) of the WCRP.
