Résumé

Illness or disability can isolate people, putting them in a different position from those around them. Friends, family and professionals, as well as the affected person, can find themselves saying the wrong thing or awkwardly avoiding topics as a result. This book offers insights to help bridge that gap. Based on personal testimonies, this is a candid look at how people respond when they or someone close to them has an illness or disability.
The book explores the perspectives of partners, children and professionals and considers the different ways in which understanding can transform how people feel and react.
