Biographie de Nicky Singer
Nicky Singer's writing career kicked off at school, when she won a bar of chocolate for a story she'd written. This is easy money, she thought, I'll do this again ... Nicky is now an author of many books for children and adults across fiction and non-fiction. She has also written plays. Her first children's book Feather Boy won the Blue Peter 'Book of the Year' Award and was adapted for TV (winning a BAFTA for Best Children's Drama) and commissioned by the National Theatre as a musical.
In 2012 her play Island (about ice-bears and the nature of reality) premiered at the National Theatre and toured 40 London schools. She subsequently re-wrote Island as a novel with illustrations by former Children's Laureate, Chris Riddell. Nicky lives in Brighton but always feels like she is coming home when she crosses the border into Scotland, the land of her grandparents. Sadly, these days she is rarely paid in bars of chocolate.
