The Beatles' second feature film, Help ! - or Eight Arms to Hold You, to use its working title - was released in the summer of 1965, at a time when pop tastes were changing on an almost daily basis. Back then, it gave fans an amusing travelogue of the group at play, but viewed in retrospect, more than half a century later, it signified the end of the juvenility that had helped define Beatlemania. In this meticulously researched and restored account of the film's production, featuring rare and previously unseen photographs and materials, forensic art and image restorer, Paul Skellett, and renowned Beatles researcher and author, Simon wells, dissect the film, its stars and the remarkable times in which it was made.
The legendary director of Help !, Richard Lester, has contributed parts of his private collection, including the original, hand-noted script of the film.
