For the 59th time in its history, Automobile Year brings you as comprehensive an overview as possible of the events that marked the worlds of industry, motorsport and design over the past twelve months. Since its launch in 1953, Automobile Year has been published simultaneously in three languages: French, English and German. E-T-A-I has upheld this tradition by putting together a cosmopolitan team of recognised experts in their respective fields, to give readers access to the best expertise in every area covered.
In keeping with an established formula, the book's contents revolve around three broad topics: industry, motorsport and culture. Part One reviews the year's new launches, both of production models and concept cars, and assesses economic trends in the car industry, with analyses of the major world markets. Part Two reports on the motorsport season, across the various disciplines (Formula One, endurance, rallying and touring car racing).
As well as an overview of all the international championships, it offers insights into the peculiarities of American and Japanese motorsport. Each major series is covered, with team portraits, race-by-race reports and full season reviews. Part Three, lastly, puts the emphasis on the cultural dimension of the automobile, and its reciprocal interplay with the world of art and architecture. This chapter delves into the world of collectors, who put the richness of our automotive heritage on display within the framework of historic races and concours d'élégance.
