Virology forms a link between science and medicine, and between disciplines such as microbiology and molecular biology. Rapid progress in the field has been accompanied by similar developments in the technical vocabulary, which is now extremely diverse, often confusing and yet critical for useful discussion in the field. The third edition of A Dictionary of Virology will satisfy the needs of any biologist, clinician, research worker or veterinary virologist, health practitioner or teacher who requires easy reference to current virological usage. The third edition has been completely updated and revised to contain full descriptions and classifications of all vertebrate viruses, from humans to fish, listed in the 7th ICTV Report.
