Dr. Akshita Singh holds her Ph. D. in Human Development from Banasthali Vidyapith, Jaipur, Rajasthan. During the tenure she qualified UGC-NET (National Eligibility Test) and was the beneficiary of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship). She has also qualified U-SET (Uttrakhand State Eligibility Test). She earned her training experience at 'The Spastics Centre' ( Bal Bhawan) Phool Bagh, Kanpur, U. P. for working with the children with special needs along with block field work training at National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) Regional Centre, Lucknow.
Dr. Akshita  Singh has presented ample of research papers in National and International conferences and seminars along with attending numerous workshops. Her doctoral research work was on Mental Health which has been published in SCOPUS and UGC approved National and International Journals. Her field of interest is child psychology, children with special needs and mental health. It was her keen conscientiousness in children which drive her to have a go at activity book writing for adolescents.
Presently she is working as Director in one of the schools of Rawat Educational Group, Jaipur, Rajasthan. About the bookIndeed adolescence period is full of storm and stress during which the adolescent not only encounter physical changes but also psychological changes encompassing mood swings, crankiness and angst. To endure and get the better of such grievances it's paramount to elevate mental health by promoting psychological support among such masses through activities providing recreation and raising socializing skills which are well illustrated in this handbook.
"New Horizon" A Handbook on Mental Health enhancement activities for Adolescents,  is a reference miscellaneous activity book which is compiled and customized under five domains: emotional stability, overall adjustment, autonomy, security-insecurity, self-concept and intelligence respectively to feed the psychological needs of adolescents hence strengthening their mental health. Activities in the book hold a very practical approach, strive to seek positive alternative solutions within the environment one is living in and can be administered in any institutional setting.
