Duane M. Rumbaugh, RegentsProfessor emeritus in the Departments of Psychology and Biology at Georgia State University, is the cofounder and recent director of the Language Research Center there. A comparative psychologist who began his research into the nature of the learning processes of primates in 1958, he initiated the Lana Chimpanzee Language Project in 1971 and led the development of a computer-monitored keyboard for that and other projects that have followed. David A. Washburn is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology and director of the Language Research Center at Georgia State University.
