Luke Farrell is fed up with his mother, Martina. Just as his football team has made it to the semi-finals of the All Ireland Schoolboys' League, Martina has decided to uproot them both and move to Dun Laoghaire. For her it means a new job - perhaps a new man. But for Luke it means the end of his footballing dream and a struggle to fit in at Woodlawn School.
Can Cecilia of the candy-floss hair be trusted? Might Swayne, her bullying boyfriend, beat him to a pulp? Is the enigmatic Ella really a Man City fan or just posing? And will Luke be able to create a half-decent football team from the dross of Dun Laoghaire?
