They were parents, children, neighbors, farmers, shopkeepers, teachers, students and friends. The Partition of India in 1947 was not only the creation of two countries.
It was a human experience that transformed countless families forever. Homes were abandoned, relationships were broken, communities were divided and memories were carried across generations. Yet history is never only a story of destruction. It is also a story of courage. During moments when fear was strongest, some people chose humanity. Some opened their doors to strangers.
