Résumé
The head of the Buffalo crime family ordered two gunmen to carry out the kidnapping of former boss of one of the five families of New York Joe "Bananas" Bonanno after Bonanno stepped out of a taxi-cab with his attorney William Power Maloney on Park Avenue in New York on Oct. 21, 1964, because the head of the Buffalo crime family, and cousin of Joe Bonanno, Stefano Magaddino, wanted to take over as Bonanno crime family boss and also wanted revenge against Bonnano for plotting his murder, in addition to plotting the murder of Carlo Gambino and Tommy Lucchese.
Bonanno-who was returning to his attorney William Power Maloney's 35 Park Avenue apartment after Maloney and Bonanno had a meeting at Pen and Pencil Restaurant, located at 205 East 45th St., was forced into a car and rushed away by the gunmen operating under orders from Buffalo crime boss Magaddino after one of the two gunmen-both of which weighed 200 pounds and were six-feet-tall, fired a shot. The car that Bonanno was forced into was parked on 36th Street and had a wheelman waiting in the car for the two gunmen that had just kidnapped Bonanno.
The men told Bonanno to keep his head down and sped down 36th Street, squealing their tires. Read, in this informative report how an internal conflict was created between different factions inside of New York City crime boss Joe Bonanno's crime family by other members of The Commission, leading to a shooting war between opposing Bonanno factions known as the Bonanno War or the "Banana Split" that is fully discussed in this report.
Also read about how Bonanno family crime boss Carmine Galante travelled with Joe Bonanno to Sicily in 1957 because the Sicilian mafia wanted to discuss with Joseph Bonanno and Carmine Galante the business of how to traffic heroin into the United States and it was agreed that Carmine Galante would be the emissary of the Bonanno crime family operations involving heroin drug running. Read about the assassination of Carmine Galante by masked men in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn borough New York City and how Galante's Sicilian bodyguards did not protect the mob boss.
