Résumé
This book describes Peyronie's Disease, Diagnosis and Treatment and Related DiseasesPeyronie's disease is a penile conditionWhere fibrous scar tissue causes painful erectionThis scar tissue called plague run the length of the penisIt causes pain while erecting during coitusPeyronie's disease can result from a genetic or inherited conditionSome causes may be due to the effect of medicationThe main cause is injury or trauma to the penial glandThis can cause bleeding and scarring in menThe disease happens mostly in middle-aged men, When the penis soft and not erect, there is no painPeyronie's disease of the penis result in poor erectionDiagnosis is feeling the hardened tissue during physical examinationA biopsy of hardened tissue may be needed for confirmationMost Peyronie's cases are mild and do not need correctionSurgery with penis prosthesis implantation has the best resultEntering the vagina and satisfying the partner leaves no doubt-An original poem by Kenneth KeePeyronie's disease (crooked painful penis) is the development of fibrous scar tissue called plaque inside the penis that causes curved, painful erections.
The scar tissue forms along the length of the penis in the corpora cavernosa. This plaque (scar) is not noticeable and depending on the severity of the disorder, the plaque can induce the penis to curve making sexual intercourse difficult and infrequently painful. The plaque of Peyronie's disease is believed to develop after trauma (hitting or bending) that produces localized bleeding inside the penis.
The damage or trauma may not be evident from the outside of the penis. Some cases may be genetically linked or inherited, passed on from parents to children through genes. Peyronie's disease could be produced by a combination of both factors. In addition a number of medicines list Peyronie's disease as a possible side effect. However, the chance of developing Peyronie's disease from any of these drugs is very low and there is no absolute evidence that PD is related to taking these drugs.
When the penis is soft, the penile curve cannot be observed. But in severe cases the hardened plaque which is benign reduces flexibility causing pain and forcing the penis to bend or arc during erection. In most cases, the pain decreases over time but the bend in the penis can remain a problem. The doctor can palpate the hardened tissue inside the penis caused by the Peyronie's disease. Mild cases of Peyronie's disease seldom necessitate treatment.
Also, the pain linked with Peyronie's disease happens only with an erection and is normally mild. If sexual intercourse is acceptable then no treatment may be required. Possible treatments for Peyronie's disease are surgery and medical treatment. Some studies have shown that vitamin E and B10 improves PD. Both of these vitamins may reduce or limit the growth of the scar tissue formation. Medicines may be injected directly into the penis to reduce the bend:CollagenaseVerapamilInterferon alfaRadiation therapy can only alleviate the pain linked with PD but is seldom used.
The most common surgeries used to treat PD are:Removal of the plaque followed by placement of a tissue patch. Removal or altering the tissue from the side of the penis opposite the plaque, which counters the disease's bending effect. Another surgery for Peyronie's disease is penile prosthesis implantationPeyronie's Disease is a self-limiting disorder in a small percentage of men.
