Résumé

From the courts of Spain to the shadowed battlements of Ludlow Castle, a young Catherine of Aragon races to outwit an assassin before the Tudor dynasty dies in its cradle. When Catherine of Aragon crosses the sea to marry Prince Arthur Tudor, she expects duty, diplomacy, and perhaps, in time, something resembling happiness. What she does not expect is murder. A ruthless conspirator lurks within the English court, loyal to a Pretender to the English throne and determined to restore a rival dynasty, by eliminating the heir of Henry VII at any cost.
As Arthur's new bride, Catherine is close enough to witness the danger, but powerless enough to be dismissed. No one expects the foreign princess to notice. No one expects her to act. They are wrong. When the royal court withdraws to Ludlow Castle in the wild borderlands of the Welsh Marches, Catherine dares to believe the worst is behind them. But the assassin has followed and when he threatens the life of her most beloved lady-in-waiting, the one woman who has made England feel like home, Catherine is forced to make an impossible choice.
A crown or a friend. Safety or justice. Silence or courage. Perfect for fans of:- The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory- Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel- Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen by Alison Weir- An Assassin's Creed - historical conspiracy thrillers- Tudor historical fiction, medieval mysteries, and strong female protagonistsThe Usurper's Throne reimagines one of the most iconic women in English history at her most vulnerable and her most powerful.
Before she was the defiant queen who stood against Henry VIII. Before she became a symbol of faith and endurance. She was a teenage girl in a foreign land, armed with nothing but intelligence, loyalty, and nerve. And that was more than enough. Gripping. Atmospheric. Deeply human. A must-read for lovers of Tudor historical fiction, court intrigue, and tales of women who refused to be silent. Grab your copy today.
Charity Bishop is funny, quirky, analytical, a little sentimental, and occasionally forgetful, with an offbeat sense of humor, a tendency to like sci-fi, and a storehouse of knowledge about "useless trivia." She gets fixated on learning things, and obsesses over them until she knows everything there is to know about them, then looks for something new to learn. She gets bored with "same-ness, " but is good at impartiality and seeing both sides in an argument.
In fact, she's likely to argue both sides for the sheer fun of it. She grew up in the church and was saved at a young age, but re-evaluated and re-dedicated her life to Christ three years ago. Since then, God has encouraged her to trust Him with her life and future - which sometimes is an uphill battle for a stubborn girl. As she struggles with understanding His ways along with her characters, He gently reveals the answers.
He's her co-author, both in the stories she tells and in her very own story. Her day job is a magazine editor, and her hobbies (other than writing books) include over-analyzing everything she comes into contact with, vigorously defending various incarnations of Sherlock Holmes against perceived injustices, irritating her friends with theological musings, and MBTI typing fictional characters.
