Résumé

A gripping historical fiction novel set in the Tudor court, where sisterhood is the only shield against a world of treachery. ISABELLA'S DAUGHTER brings to life one of history's most overlooked and heartbreaking true stories: the secret visit of Juana of Castile to England in 1506 - and what it meant for her desperate, isolated sister, Catherine of Aragon. Left behind in England after the death of her young husband, Prince Arthur, Catherine of Aragon endures years of neglect, poverty, and political limbo.
She is a princess with no power, a royal with no future until a storm at sea delivers the most unexpected gift: her beloved sister Juana, Queen of Castile, stranded on English shores. For a brief, brilliant moment, Catherine sees a way forward. A chance to remind the Tudor court that she is not merely a widow to be forgotten, but the daughter of Isabella of Castile, a woman who changed the course of history. But Duke Philip of Burgundy has no intention of allowing the sisters to unite.
Whispering lies about Juana's sanity into willing ears, conspiring with the calculating King Henry VII, and harboring the fugitive traitor Edmund de la Pole, Duke of Suffolk, Philip is weaving a web of deceit that could destroy everything Catherine hopes for ... and everything Juana was born to be. Surrounded by spies. Watched by enemies. Separated by locked doors and whispered slanders. Can two women, armed with only their intelligence and their unbreakable bond, survive the ambitions of the men who seek to control them?? Perfect for fans of: Hilary Mantel, Alison Weir, Philippa Gregory, C.
W. Gortner, and Elizabeth Fremantle? Readers who love: Tudor historical fiction, strong female protagonists, royal court intrigue, sister relationships, political conspiracy, and richly researched European history? Featuring: Catherine of Aragon as you've never seen her: not yet a queen, not yet a martyr, but a young woman fighting fiercely and brilliantly just to surviveFor every reader who ever wondered what history looked like through the eyes of the women it tried to silence.
Isabella's Daughter is a sweeping, emotionally resonant, and compulsively readable tale of power, love, loyalty, and the extraordinary courage it takes for two sisters to stand against a world determined to break them. Grab your copy today.
Charity Bishop is funny, quirky, analytical, a little sentimental, and occasionally forgetful, with an offbeat sense of humor, a tendency to like sci-fi, and a storehouse of knowledge about "useless trivia." She gets fixated on learning things, and obsesses over them until she knows everything there is to know about them, then looks for something new to learn. She gets bored with "same-ness, " but is good at impartiality and seeing both sides in an argument.
In fact, she's likely to argue both sides for the sheer fun of it. She grew up in the church and was saved at a young age, but re-evaluated and re-dedicated her life to Christ three years ago. Since then, God has encouraged her to trust Him with her life and future - which sometimes is an uphill battle for a stubborn girl. As she struggles with understanding His ways along with her characters, He gently reveals the answers.
He's her co-author, both in the stories she tells and in her very own story. Her day job is a magazine editor, and her hobbies (other than writing books) include over-analyzing everything she comes into contact with, vigorously defending various incarnations of Sherlock Holmes against perceived injustices, irritating her friends with theological musings, and MBTI typing fictional characters.
