Johann Robert Mueller was supposed to be dead. Buried under a false story and mourned under a lie, the preacher who lost his wife, his daughter, and nearly his own life is pulled back from the grave by a woman the town fears as the Black Water Witch. Hidden from Braken Harbor and kept alive in darkness, Johann recovers only to discover that the evil which destroyed his family still walks openly through the town's streets, churches, docks, and respectable houses.
