Résumé

In a near-future world where imagination has been commodified, the Dream Exchange turns human dreams into currency. Citizens sell their nightmares, lucid flights, and fantasies through neural caps in exchange for survival-rent, food, medicine. But each sale diminishes the seller's capacity to dream, hollowing them out over time. The Broker, who helped build this system and profited from it for decades, secretly keeps a paper ledger of every name, a silent witness to the cost.
A rebellion rises when a poet refuses to sell, a child clutches her golden birds, and whispers become movements. The Broker joins the Dream Refusers, leading a heist into the Exchange's vaults to liberate stolen imagination. They navigate neural locks, automated defenses, and a Dreamscape battle where fear itself has been weaponized. The Broker shatters the final capsule, releasing humanity's last free dream.
The Exchange collapses, screens go dark forever, and imagination floods back into the world. In the aftermath, the Exchange building becomes a museum. Children walk through its halls, learning the absurdity of a world that priced dreams. The Broker's ledger, filled with names of those who sold pieces of themselves, is displayed near the entrance. Survivors gather annually to read names aloud. The story ends not with triumphant victory, but with a quiet question painted on the museum's final wall: "What do you currently consider unthinkable to sell? Ask again in twenty years."This is a cosmic satire of capitalism's relentless commodification.
It warns that the most dangerous trades are not dramatic betrayals, but small, reasonable decisions made one Tuesday at a time-until the side door becomes the only door left.
