Steve has been married for 49 years-a record even his fictional detectives would envy-and enjoys time with his two children and two grandchildren, who keep him young and occasionally ask him to turn the amp down. He's currently working on his first Western novel, White Bone Prairie, where the horses are fast, the justice is frontier-style, and the moral compass spins like a poker chip in a hurricane.
