Résumé
The Caribbean Cartel Game plunges the reader into an adventure where technology, memory and imagination converge to the point where reality itself becomes suspect. Omar, aged eighteen, leads a first life: that of a young man living in Paris with his parents, having just passed his baccalaureate. But the novel quickly introduces another possibility: Omar has lived - or is still living - another life.
Through an immersive virtual reality experience, he is transported to a Caribbean world where dangers take on an almost physical dimension. There, he meets a team of outcasts and takes part in a mission that draws them into a spiral of violence and mystery. A contraband cargo, a ship called Revenant, assaults, betrayals and invisible forces gradually lead them towards an island where the past still seems to be alive.
The adventure then takes on a supernatural dimension: spirits, a blood pact, a priestess, a mysterious agent, the island of the damned, the jungle, ghosts, sacrifice and a final curse make up a journey of initiation that is as dangerous as it is unsettling. But perhaps the real danger is more subtle. For is the world in which the characters find themselves truly virtual? What if what they consider to be reality were merely a simulation on a higher level? The novel gradually constructs a game of mirrors between several states of existence.
Each revelation calls the previous one into question. Every victory may be a defeat. Every memory may belong to another life. At the crossroads of adventure thrillers, immersive science fiction, fantasy and psychological fiction, The Caribbean Cartel Game offers a narrative experience designed for readers who love parallel worlds, uncertain identities, virtual universes and plots where the line between reality and illusion becomes impossible to draw.
Enter the game. But remember one thing: you may never know when you actually stepped out of it.
