Seeing Italy

Italy is a country in southern Europe known for its deep historical roots, cultural influence, and striking geographic diversity. Shaped like a boot and extending into the Mediterranean Sea, it is bordered by the Alps to the north and surrounded by seas on three sides. Italy was the heart of the Roman Empire, whose legacy still shapes Western law, politics, engineering, and language. Today, Italy is home to countless historical landmarks, from the Colosseum in Rome and the canals of Venice to the ruins of Pompeii and the Renaissance art of Florence.
Modern Italy is equally celebrated for its contributions to art, cuisine, fashion, and lifestyle. Italian food-such as pasta, pizza, and regional wines-has become global comfort cuisine, while cities like Milan set international fashion trends. The country blends ancient traditions with modern life, valuing family, regional identity, and craftsmanship. Despite political and economic challenges, Italy remains one of the world's most visited countries, admired for its beauty, history, and enduring cultural impact.
When I wrote this book I chose many of the places and sights that we have been to and utilized photographs that I personally have taken and loved.
