This entity is more common than expected from medical literature. Already 50 years ago, during my medical studies, our professor was explaining that this disorder is common in elderly women. Reasons were a puzzle, but radiological studies were describing an enlarged pulmonary artery on the crossing with the left upper lobe bronchus. Above 3.5 cm was considered abnormal.
