Orton-Gillingham Decodable Stories: Level 2 is a structured series of decodable readers designed for children learning to read through the Orton-Gillingham approach. Books in this level build on early short-vowel skills and provide practice with closed-syllable words using short a, e, i, o, and u. Readers also practise common digraphs, final -ck, qu, FLOSS words, and words ending in -s and -es. The stories use carefully controlled vocabulary, short sentences, clear sequencing, and helpful repetition.
These features support accurate decoding, reading confidence, fluency, and comprehension. A small number of sight words are included when needed to support smooth sentence reading. These words should be reviewed before reading each book. Most other words are intended to be sounded out using phonics skills the reader has already learned. This series is suitable for Orton-Gillingham tutors, structured literacy teachers, reading intervention, homeschool families, parents supporting reading at home, and children with dyslexia or other reading difficulties.
