Résumé

The ketogenic diet is a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with fasting. Like those who fast for religious or health reasons, people on the ketosis diet are able to lose weight quickly by restricting their caloric intake and giving up food that contains sugar and starch (like breads). Unlike most other diets out there, though, they also have an incredibly easy time keeping the pounds off once they've lost them! Why? Well, research shows that when you limit carbs and eat enough fat instead-especially good fats like omega-3s, -you switch on your body's ability to burn fat in what is known as ketosis. Advanced weight loss plans like the keto diet take advantage of how we use fuel for energy and how different foods affect your metabolic activity level.
When you eat a high carb meal, sugars from those carbs are released into your bloodstream where they're used by most of the cells in your body-but not all! Some cells aren't able to access those sugars for energy, so they need a backup plan. This is why there's a special set of proteins called transporters located on their outer membranes that whisk sugar molecules inside the cell using insulin specifically as a transporter.
Now more than just sugar can enter the cell.
