Résumé

What makes us real?Zoey Malone is the FBI's most unique financial analyst who hides and thrives alone in her tiny cubicle in the corner, or so she believes, but a history-making event sends her to a distant and remote Nevada valley where she must decide if a local rancher is a danger to the entire human race. Dedicated to Joanne Pierce Misko (1941-2024), an American nun and one of the first women to join the FBI as an agent.
Advance reviews:I was not sure what to expect from this story with themes of law enforcement, romance and aliens, it made for an Interesting combination. I have to say I was I was not sure what to expect from this story with themes of law enforcement, romance and aliens, it made for an Interesting combination. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the story and the writing skills of the author.
This is a thought provoking and realistic story, as much as it can be with aliens involved, they were actually just mildly involved. It is also about finding yourself, confidence building and making your own decisions. The writing was smooth with well developed and believable characters. I was happy to have chosen this to read, the ending seems to be set up to have follow up stories, no cliffhangers.
I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed. - Heidi, ARC reviewerI thoroughly enjoyed this story. It took a while to warm up to the main character, but I liked her growth and how things turned out. The descriptions of the Nevada countryside, life on a dude ranch, small company-town, and the townsfolk were very well done. At times I could picture the sunrise and almost smell the hay. The story itself was interesting and if it continues in another book I will happily pick that up to read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. - Helen, ARC reviewer---JT Hume started life as a rambling man. Born in El Paso while his US Army parents were stationed in Texas, he's been boots-dry in forty-plus states and lived in three countries. He's a proud Nevadan and product of the Silver State's K12 and higher education system, and he proudly served in the United States Air Force.
The best decision he ever made was when he asked Cassidy Carson to marry him. The jury is still out on whether accepting said proposal was Cassidy's best decision. JT Hume's books are formed from his knowledge and interest in politics, government, and Nevada. His characters are pushed through strategies honed over many years of playing bad chess. You might say his books are flavored with the love and romance he's shared with his soulmate over their decades together.
Please read his books and reach out to him with questions, corrections, or constructive criticism. Thank you.
