In fourteenth-century France, a woman wrote about a soul so free it no longer moved by fear.  She did not seek authority.  She did not challenge doctrine.  Living among the Beguines, outside formal vows and institutional protection, Marguerite Porete wrote The Mirror of Simple Souls, a book that traveled farther than she ever intended.  As her words spread quietly through homes, monasteries, and marketplaces, concern followed.
 Invititations turned into summons.  Clarification became demand.  Marguerite chose silence.  What Fire cannot finish is a literary historical novel inspired by the life and writings of Marguerite Porete, a medieval mystic whose refusal to shrink truth made her ungovernable. Told with restraint and interior depth, the novel traces her relationships, her writing, her confrontation with authority, and the uncontainable movement of a message that survived it's author.
 This is a story of alignment.  Not about how a woman died, but about what could not be ended.
