Too Good To Check

Not just another "misattribution" retread: the series so far has moved from correct evidence that took too long (Book 1) to correct credit that landed on the wrong person (Book 2). The natural third move completes the set - incorrect beliefs that got corrected decades ago and are still repeated as fact anyway. Where Books 1 and 2 were both, in their own ways, hopeful (the truth eventually surfaces, sometimes even gets the right name attached), this one is the uncomfortable mirror: some wrong things never die no matter how thoroughly they're killed.
The title's a real phrase, incidentally - an old journalism saying about stories that spread precisely because checking them would ruin them.
