Résumé

Ares, god of war, has watched men fight for three thousand years. He is not impressed with the alpha male podcast. Modern men have a problem. They want to be strong, confident, respected, successful, desirable, and capable. Unfortunately, an entire industry has noticed. Podcasters will teach you dominance. Pickup artists will teach you attraction. Crypto influencers will teach you wealth. Fitness influencers will teach you strength.
The internet will teach you how an alpha male walks, talks, dresses, dates, earns, trains, argues, and poses beside a rented Lamborghini. Ares has reviewed the evidence. His assessment: you are training for the photograph instead of the fight. In Think Like a Spartan, the Greek god of war turns three thousand years of experience watching men under pressure toward the strange state of modern masculinity.
His conclusion isn't that men should stop wanting strength. It's that they've forgotten what strength is for. Across twenty-three chapters, Ares examines physical strength, confidence, money, status, competition, anger, friendship, loneliness, vulnerability, relationships, work, fatherhood, failure, purpose, and the uncomfortable gap between looking capable and actually being someone others can count on.
Each chapter ends with a Field Assessment:WHAT FAILED. CORRECTIVE ACTION. Simple. At least, it is until Ares begins noticing that some of his assessments apply rather inconveniently to the god writing them. Because a man can be strong without knowing what his strength is for. He can be surrounded by people without being known by any of them. He can become extraordinarily capable while quietly avoiding the question of who all that capability is supposed to serve.
And apparently being the literal embodiment of masculine aggression does not exempt you from this problem. Funny, confrontational, mythological, and unexpectedly thoughtful, Think Like a Spartan is a guide to masculinity for men tired of being sold its performance. Ares isn't here to make you an alpha male. He's here to ask whether you're actually strong when nobody is watching.
