Résumé

So why are we speaking about the Ten Commandments? For many, the immediate response is that they belong exclusively to the Law of Moses and should therefore be regarded as outdated, archaic, or even obsolete. Yet it is precisely because we have abandoned the moral foundation revealed in the Ten Commandments-and misunderstood the enduring significance of God's commandments-that much of the Church has drifted into lawlessness.
We have witnessed a diminishing fear of God, an increasing spirit of compromise, and growing patterns of rebellion, carnality, and sin. What was once considered holy is now often treated as optional, and what God has declared righteous is too frequently redefined by culture. Sadly, and to our great detriment, many believers no longer esteem God's commandments as a revelation of His holy nature. While we are unquestionably saved by grace through faith, and while we are transformed from glory to glory by the work of the Holy Spirit, grace was never intended to become a licence for self-rule or disobedience.
True grace does not lower God's standard of holiness; it empowers us to walk in it. Jesus Himself declared that the entire Law is fulfilled in two great commandments: to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbour as ourselves. This study demonstrates that while believers are not bound to the Mosaic Covenant as a means of righteousness, the eternal principles embodied in the Ten Commandments remain profoundly relevant.
They do not bind us to legalism; they bind our hearts to the holiness, purity, righteousness, and character of God Himself.
