Résumé

2-Works of fantasy female-led fiction open with "The Horla Revisited". Read on, as Sandrine Bessancort takes us back to late-nineteenth-century Paris, where a purposely unattached, carefree and financially secure, Parisian bachelor takes lodgings with a widow in the home of a man recently fished from the Seine and pronounced a suicide by the Seine Prefecture . That widow being a buxom and curiously disturbing Parisian landlady fully intent on showing her new lodger the reasons behind her husband's departure.
And in a commanding way that will ensure the once carefree and unattached man will soon come to understand exactly why her former partner chose to terminate his continued association with existence! We close with Malkin Jamali and "The Women From Madras", her story of possession and obsession stretching from the English Home-Counties to the Indian Subcontinent. Read on, as Ms Jamali tells us of a mother and adopted daughter from India who travel to the English countryside to settle the affairs of the mother's late-sister.
But it is not only money and bricks and mortar the sister has bequeathed to them. For the women, as was the sister, are both members of the same secretive and ancient religious sect in India and the sister has described a recently divorced Englishman she thinks will interest them very much. Even if the man himself will rue the day he ever laid eyes upon them! Believable fantasy and occult misadventure in the world of female-led fiction, for those readers with a desire to have a light shone on the more.
outré .corners of their imaginations.
