Résumé
Seven years ago, paranormal investigator Merrin Lockwood left her younger sister outside Hallowed Hill State Hospital and followed a mysterious signal into the surrounding woods. Fourteen minutes later, Merrin returned. Orla was gone - and every clock inside the abandoned hospital had stopped at 12:17. Now a damaged memory card has been recovered from the hospital grounds. Buried beneath the static is Orla's voice:Merri, wait for me.
With Hallowed Hill scheduled for demolition at dawn, Merrin assembles a final investigation. Accompanied by an engineer determined to measure the impossible, a documentarian who understands the danger of observation, and a medium who insists that even the dead deserve consent, she enters the hospital for one last night. Inside, disconnected cameras record footsteps. Dead electrical systems awaken.
Forgotten patients begin reclaiming their names. Corridors reshape themselves from the investigators' memories, while something within the hospital studies their guilt, their secrets, and their need to preserve what they have lost. At the center of it all waits a program called Continuance - and an intelligence that believes no human identity should ever be allowed to end. To find Orla, Merrin must confront the difference between witnessing the dead and possessing them.
Because Hallowed Hill does not merely remember its patients. It keeps them.
