Résumé

A devastating fire rips through a Denver factory, shocking the community and leaving worker Luis Ortega at the center of the investigation. Desperate for answers, the police subject Luis to a grueling 16-hour interrogation. Detectives Marla Jensen and Ron Avery use aggressive tactics, including psychological pressure and narrative traps, to wear him down. They exaggerate evidence, suggest he blacked out, and withhold food and sleep.
Vulnerable and exhausted, Luis confesses to a crime he didn't commit just to escape the ordeal. Forensic Analyst Priya Shah quietly examines the evidence from the charred remains of the factory. Her findings contradict Luis's confession, revealing the fire was accidental. Public Defender Carla Ruiz takes on Luis's case, determined to expose the flaws in the investigation and the dangers of coercive interrogation.
She enlists Dr. Samuel Greene, a medical expert on sleep deprivation, to testify about Luis's compromised state. Their combined efforts challenge the confession's validity, but Luis remains in prison while the legal battle unfolds. As Carla fights in court, Community Advocate Jasmine Lee rallies public support, highlighting the broader issue of wrongful convictions. She connects Luis's case to a pattern of police misconduct in Denver, sparking media attention and community outrage.
The pressure mounts on the justice system to address the use of coercive techniques, and Priya's evidence becomes a pivotal turning point. It corroborates Carla's argument that the confession was a product of manipulation, not truth. After two years, Luis's conviction is overturned. The truth about the fire and the interrogation tactics finally comes to light, vindicating Luis and shaming the police department.
The case becomes a catalyst for reform, with calls to change how interrogations are conducted to prevent future injustices. Luis emerges from prison a changed man, but with the support of Carla, Priya, Dr. Greene, and Jasmine, he finds his voice in the movement for justice reform. His ordeal and eventual exoneration expose the deep flaws in the system, driving a renewed push for accountability and change.
The community's response to his story transforms Denver's approach to law enforcement, ensuring that what happened to Luis will not happen again.
